Babes in the Wood is a South African duo who specialises in screenprinted textiles; from kids clothing to home décor items. They required a visual identity that captured their craft, as well as their quirky personalities. They wanted something that was fun, full of character and some vintage flair.
Our process involved creating various hand-drawn typefaces and illustrations that are somewhat perfectly imperfect. The style took cues from screenprinting as a medium, but more specifically, the interesting and beautiful imperfections that often occur when the printed layers on a design aren’t perfectly registered. These serendipitous mishaps inspired a real and authentic visual style.
